ZAPWATER GOES SWIMMING WITH THE SHARKS

For most of the year, Zapwater Communications has been helping with the launch of Everpurse (www.everpurse.com) a new Chicago based accessory that combines cutting edge technology with fashion forward style, resulting in functional handbags that wirelessly charge a variety of smart phones.

Invented by Liz Salcedo, a former social worker turned entrepreneur, Everpurse quickly grew from a personal solution into a fully realized Kick starter campaign. Within a year of conception the brand has quickly become an internationally celebrated tech product made by and for women.

The initial launch of Everpurse brought the type of publicity that seasoned companies yearn for every day. A broad range of outlets picked up on the product including In Style, Nylon, USA Today, Entrepreneur, and The New York Times validated that both the media and the general public were clamoring to get their hands on these sought after bags.

Seeing value in both the product and the woman behind it, Katie Couric’s daily ABC talk show, Katie, came quickly calling and wanted to feature the brand in a new segment titled “Mothers of Invention” where young female startups have the opportunity to pitch their product to a team of experts. For this particular taping the panel would be none other than the “sharks” behind ABC’s other popular show Shark Tank! For the record I’d like to state that live TV segments are tough and nerve wracking. Copious amounts of time and effort from our end go into prepping a client before going on air. Throwing in a national outlet and judges known for being very tough could have quickly made a recipe for disaster. Luckily Liz has become an on air pro and dove right into the tank. Showing both keen insights into her own business and quick thinking, she truly made her publicist proud. Everpurse received several minutes of air time, great feedback from the best in the business, and their logo prominently displayed on national TV. Getting your brand in front of Katie Couric herself doesn’t hurt either.

Be sure to tune in and check out Everpurse for yourself when the episode airs later this month!
