AROUND TOWN: Halloween Happenings

The countdown to Halloween has officially begun! Our beloved city of Chicago has so much to offer all year round and even more so during the holidays. From spirited theater productions to festive local parades to themed cruises and spooky haunted houses, there is no excuse to not get into the Halloween spirit this season!

We've rounded up some exciting Halloween themed events that you can enjoy with friends and family members of all ages.

Theatre: The Annoyance Theatre, located in Lakeview, is showcasing their 30th Anniversary production titled, Splatter Theatre. This hilarious show spoofs gory slasher films like Friday the 13th, while incorporating characters such as the class jock, high school nerd and bimbo. The set and costumes start off completely white, but not for long… Visit the Annoyance Theatre to watch these characters die in hilarious ways and splatter the set with fake blood. The show runs from September 9th- October 31st. Tickets are $20 and $15 for students.

Haunted House: What better way to get in the Halloween spirit than with a spooky Haunted House?  The Townhouse of Terror located in River North is presenting their 7th annual Haunted House Fundraiser titled, Hospital Hell.  A $5 suggested donation is asked, as all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Visit The Townhouse Terror on October 13th and 14th for a scary good time!

Parade: Come one come all- The Northhalsted Halloween Parade is ranked one of the Ten Best Halloween Celebrations in the US!  All are welcome to dress up and march in the parade on Halloween evening. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with the parade kicking off at Halsted and Belmont at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, Participants may compete in costume contests for different categories including theme, group, scariest, and drag. The winners will be announced at the end of the parade.

Cruises: Zapwater client, Entertainment Cruises, is excited to announce two Halloween themed cruise events this October!

The Mystic Blue is hosting a Sunday Funday Halloween Brunch Cruise on October 29th. This 2-hour brunch cruise includes a three-course buffet style brunch and bottomless mimosas. There will be a rooftop DJ spinning spooky tunes, and of course, costumes are encouraged! Tickets start at $59.

Spirit Cruises is hosting a Tricks & Treats Family Halloween Brunch Cruise on October 29th. Tickets include a freshly-prepared brunch buffet including both breakfast and lunch options. Come dressed in costume and enjoy views of the Chicago Skyline while munching on Halloween candy and dancing to our DJ’s Halloween Playlist. Tickets are $58 for adults and $34 for kids.
