MY NEW TITLE AT ZAPWATER: MODEL/ACTRESS

In my 11 months at Zapwater Communications I have stepped up the ladder from part time intern to full time intern and now into the role of assistant publicist. As of last week, thanks to Zapwater clients Le Dress and Hotel Sax, I can add a new two-part job title to my resume: model/actress!

Le Dress paired up with neighboring Ruby Room to host “Haute for the Holidays”, a shopping and style event at their Wicker Park store on November 19th. As models strolled the shop floor wearing the haute-st new looks from Le Dress, I lent my hair to the talented ladies at the Ruby Room to be styled in a holiday up-do. Being a hair model was hard work, especially when there were truffles and champagne being passed around. At the end of the night, I treated myself to a new sweater dress for my efforts.

Friday I was able to tap into my inner thespian for the shoot of a new promotional video for the Hotel Sax. Both senior publicist Susie Schreiber and I had key roles as “Bob’s Girls”. One of the most demanding roles of my career, it entailed sitting perched at the bar inside the hotel’s ultra-luxe Chairman Suite, toasting our invisible boss for a job well done. Needless to say, we really knocked them dead. Stay tuned for the finished product!

My next appearance will be in Zapwater Holiday card, just shot this week. Until then, I’m not quitting my day job.

A THANKSGIVING TABLE FOR TWO

After nominating myself as the cruise director of Zapwater (I must say our Thanksgiving dinner was amazing), I decided this would be the first year that I make an official holiday meal at home in Chicago. There really was no better time to start, being a newlywed and having the name Holly Winter, makes me feel that it is my duty to celebrate the holidays in full force, beginning with Thanksgiving on Thursday. While everyone else is vying for a table at Gibson’s, Hugos, David Burke’s and Mortons, I will be preparing a feast complete with prime rib, garlic potatoes, fresh mozzarella, proccuitto and more to set on a Thanksgiving table for two. Of course, if you are looking for a reservation, I just might be able to squeeze you in.Holly Ramsey Winter

LIVE MUSIC IN CHICAGO

Ok. I am a New Yorker and had my doubts about the Chicago music scene. However, since moving to Chicago in 2007, I've had the opportunity to catch some great live music. I have seen numerous bands including some of my favorites, such as the Drive-by Truckers, and moe.

The band that I have been most looking forward to seeing in this city is a band that calls Chicago home, Umphrey’s McGee. Every times they are playing a show, I am either on the road or attending a Zapwater event. Once again Umphrey’s McGee will be celebrating New Year’s Eve with a series of shows at the Auditorium Theater. Unfortunately, I will be home on the east coast.

Since I will miss the New Year’s spectacular I was quite thrilled that I was able to purchase some tickets to the 2008 Acoustic Holiday Show with Umphrey’s McGee’s members, Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger at Park West, December 6, 2008.

This show, a benefit for a Brendan Bayliss supported charity, USTORM. This annual
show is known for surprises and special guests ranging from local musicians to folks Brendan and Jake have shared the stage with across the country. I can't wait. Nothing is better then live music, cold beer, and supporting a cause. My imparting words to you are simple. Go see live music and happy holidays.
