CHANGE THE WORLD

"I can change the world, with my own two hands." - Ben Harper

I’d like to think I truly could change the world with my own two hands but it is an awful lot to shoulder. At Zapwater's offices, we are trying to lend a hand. Inspired by our new client Boise Inc., we have made office recycling a top priority.

We began with recycling paper and cardboard. Soon we plan to recycle plastic. Zapwater employees have made efforts to bring in our own mugs and cups rather then use plastic cups. Simple acts by individuals can make such a profound impact in attempting to reinvigorate the planet. With an ever greening world and economy, practices must first start at home or in this case Zapwater HQ.

A few weeks ago the Hotel Sax Chicago held their grand unveiling to the public with a two-night event for over 2,000 guests. The widely anticipated $25 million transformation of the House of Blues Hotel into the Hotel Sax Chicago began in January of 2007 and included a top-to-bottom renovation of the property, which now boasts state-of-the-art guestrooms, a gleaming lobby area, Crimson Lounge, amazing presidential suites and unexpected technology surprises.

The hotel is now warm with a new dramatic style and glamorous ambiance and definitely one of the coolest this city has to offer.

To unveil the finished product, the Hotel Sax Chicago hosted a private two-night event on Thursday, March 13 and Friday, March 14 featuring two local nonprofit organizations. The March 13th industry event was thrown in partnership with Gilda’s Club Chicago, the local branch of the national Gilda’s Club charity, offering free support to cancer patients and their families. The following March 14th event highlighted the charitable efforts of Lumity, which focuses on helping other charitable organizations to better fulfill their missions through the donation of various technologies. Both charities raised a combined total of over $12,000 and board members from both charities were present.

Chicago VIP’s, local politicians and industry heavyweights all dined, drank and even played guitar hero and rock band throughout various floors of the hotel. They even held a simulcast concert using never before seen technology by Yamaha and playing a Signature Series Red Elton John piano, signed by the artist and the only one available in North America!

This was definitely the party of the season!
